Shannon Motors Sponsors Blood Drives in RI with RI Blood Center

Providence, Rhode Island – Shannon Motors is pleased to be sponsoring a two-week long blood drive throughout RI. From February 15th to February 29th, Shannon Motors invites the public to donate at Rhode Island Blood Center’s Providence, Somerset and Woonsocket locations.

“Shannon Motors believes in giving back to the communities in which we live and do business,” stated Shannon Motors owner Gary Gosselin, “We are pleased to have the unique opportunity to  contribute to our community and help potentially save lives of fellow Rhode Islanders by sponsoring Rhode Island Blood Center.”

In Rhode Island, 370,000 people are eligible to donate blood but only 50,000 people do. Every day the lives of many Rhode Islanders are saved because of precious blood donations. The need for blood locally remains constant. RIBC, offers these tips below.

Blood donation requirements include:

  • Must be in good health
  • Eat a meal prior
  • Be hydrated
  • 16 years of age, with parental permission
  • Must bring identification

“With recent changes at Rhode Island Blood Center due to new testing, it’s become even more important that people roll up their sleeves and donate,” stated Eric St. Peter, Public Relations Coordinator for RI Blood Center, “Businesses like Shannon Motors who engage the community to donate blood are a huge help to us.”

One donor can save up to three lives. Shannon Motors welcomes the community to join in their effort to raise donation numbers, ultimately saving more lives.

Appointments are recommended to keep your wait time short. Call 401-453-8383 to make an appointment at one of the six RIBC centers throughout RI. Donation centers can be found in Providence, Johnston, Woonsocket, Warwick, Aquidneck, South County and Westerly. Individuals are encouraged to mention that they are donating on behalf of Shannon Motors.  All presenting donors will be automatically entered to win one of three pairs of Providence Bruin tickets courtesy of Shannon Motors and CW28. Also for the month of February, all presenting donors will be entered to win a restaurant gift card and a one-night stay at the Newport Marriot or the Omni Providence Hotel.
